Education
Dr. Shiro Perera Torquato is a clinical psychologist licensed in California and has been serving in the Simi Valley area since 1999. She began her education by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Southern California. Continuing her education, she earned a Master’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of the Pacific in California. Dr. Shiro Perera Torquato also obtained a second Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, North Carolina. She completed her education by earning her Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Auburn University and completed her clinical internship at Pacific Clinics Child and Adolescent Clinic in Pasadena.
Dr. Torquato uses her extensive education and more than 20 years of clinical experience to serve families in her community.

Dr. Shiro Perera Torquato works with children, teenagers and adults by assessing their learning, cognitive, and social/emotional functioning. These assessments will also lead to an understanding of their processing skills and their behaviors when trying to work through core problems, function at school, work, home and in the community. Dr. Shiro Perera Torquato has more than 25 years of experience in private practice in the Simi Valley area. She has gained necessary experience that has helped her to be able to connect with clients of all ages while finding the root of their strengths and needs. Not only does she have experience, but she also continues to have passion in finding new ways to help her clients. Her mission is to provide quality mental health services that will assist parents to better understand their children in order to give them opportunities to meet their full potential. Adult clients are provided with a road map and resources to improve their lives. By utilizing psychological testing and clinical experience Dr. Torquato gives hope to children, teens, adults and their families that their lives will improve.

Testing Accomodations
Dr. Shiro Perera Torquato provides psychological testing to identifying and assess your child or teenager for learning disabilities, neuro-developmental issues, or behavioral and social- emotional conditions. After completing the psychological testing, Dr. Shiro Perera Torquato likes to work collaboratively with parents/guardians, teachers, and school administration to identify and obtain the most supportive school-based services for your child. These services may include an IEP or accommodations through a 504-plan.
If you live in California and can not travel to Simi Valley, educational consultations can be conducted via telehealth, using a secure professional platform designed for confidential video sessions.

In addition, Dr. Shiro Perera Torquato performs psychological testing and provides the necessary documentation for students and adults to receive testing accommodations. This may be used for the SAT/ACT college entrance exams, as well graduate school and licensing exams, such as the GRE, MCAT and state bar exam. The psychological testing report can also be used to obtain accommodations in college or the work place for up to 3-5 years.
